We've already established that when we're busy we shirk our blogging responsibilities but it seems the exact opposite is true as well. For most of the last four weeks we've been charged with petting puppies and only two weeks of that time did we have any responsibility beyond that (feeding the puppies). So I guess this excuse is that we were experiencing a very rare vacation within a vacation, a vacation-ception if you will, and like most vacations we unplugged from most of the world. But enough about our month of decadence and more about the stars of this whole show which are one beautiful German Shepherd, an Ewok, and a ninja dog that doubles as an alarm clock. The Wildsmith dog-pack were our vacation buddies, our house alarms, and late night cuddle bugs. We've learned so much about them, so we'd like to share.
Max

Special Skills: Tackling Zach
Max is a German Shepherd through and through. He's about one and a half so he's still bursting with energy, most of which he gladly directs towards chasing after his assortment of rubber balls. Honestly he could play fetch for hours. Winry had a hard time accepting that Max was so good at catching the ball before her that she eventually just took to barking at him instead of chasing after it. Despite her annoying tendencies in the yard, Max and Winry would wrestle and tug-of-war in the house and we even got them to cuddle one time. So while Max may seem a bit fierce when he's barking at the mailman, he's really just a big cuddly softy that makes an excellent pillow in a pinch.
Mr. Pabs
Occupation: Catholic Priest
Code names: Pabst Blue Ribbon, Pabsolutely, Senior Pablo
Special Skill: Infiltrating the local plant life
Mr. Pabs is such an enigma that once you think you have him figured out he performs a beautiful acrobatic routine with a pink blanket which will astonish you until he gets to the x-rated ending. He's a whole lot wrapped up into one little dog and seems to know it as he sashays around the house with his long flowing hair. You'll know he's around by his labored, Darth Vader-esque breathing, though sometimes late into the night it can sound as if it's coming from everywhere at once. Since he can't hide he demands your attention by sitting or barrel rolling on top of you until you give in and snuggle with him. And if you're not sitting down, you can be sure he'll follow you everywhere until you do.
Coco
Occupation: Military Captain
Code names: Cocoooo (called like a bird), Coconut, Coco-Loco
Special Skill: Stealing the Crocs right off your feet
Coco was previously the only child, but apparently once Max showed up she finally found her voice. Seriously. She has a knack for emitting extremely loud repetitive barks which are annoying during the day but even more so in the morning when she's taken on the role of impromptu alarm clock. When she's not alerting you to her presence by barking or incessantly pawing your body until you'll pet her, Coco practices her ninja skills by hiding in random places like under chairs or in the sauna. Every night when we'd corral the dogs in our bedroom, Coco would crawl right under the couch and disappear for the night and we'd almost forget her until the couch started growling.
And for a last bonus round, the dogs on top of The Wrekin. Minus Mr. Pabs who wouldn't make the walk across the road lest the climb up the mountain and plus Roxy the cute little Staffordshire Bull Terrier owned by Vicki and Dave from down the road.
