Tree Down!

11:07 AM

What do you do after a big windstorm?

Take a walk through the woods of course. Everything was slowly returning to normal (for us, though other people in the valley are still without power as I write this post) so the best way to survey the damage was to see how many trees went down. Everything' s a bit dry and not so green because of winter, but far more trees had been pulled clean out of the ground than snapped in half.

Still the walk was delightful, sunny and crisp from the morning air. We were a merry band of six: Helen, Stuart, their (rather large) puppy Reggie plus Zach, Winry and I. Reggie is sweet and adventurous though he has a tendency to forget that Winry is completely out of his weight class. But they found a common goal in exploring the woods as we walked and we all had a good laugh as they would run back and forth, barking at waterfalls and slipping around fallen trees with ease.

There's something about getting back into nature that balances you out, and it was exactly what we needed after our Pistoia adventure.

Until the next adventure,
